The Notts Police Fell-Walking Section has been running for some 20 years and, Foot and Mouth aside, we have walked each and every month in that time. We also have two longer 'expeditions' each year, one in Winter to the Lake District and one in late Summer to Wales.
All you have to be is a Notts Police Employee (or ex) and a member of the Sports and Social Club.
The walks are scheduled on an Annual basis at the AGM held in April. We walk once a month come rain or shine. We meet at the Seven Mile House opposite FHQ (usually very early) and then travel by mini-bus to the appointed start point. That could be as close a Derbyshire or as far afield as North Wales or the North Pennines there and back in a day, usually a very long day!
The walks are often supported, meaning that a driver or drivers will take the buses round the circuit and meet us at strategic points with a brew-up, allowing those who do not want to do the full distance to hop on and ride a section or retire early. The strength of a good walker is to recognise his or her limitations!!
