Bowls section (Results at the bottom of the page)
The Bowls Section has approximately 30 members made up of a very thin sprinkling of serving officers but mainly retired officers and their families together with some associate members.
We play about 55 competitive games per season, over about 20 weeks. The outdoor season runs from the first week in May through to mid-September. The section does not partake in indoor bowls during the winter but most members have individual membership of various Nottinghamshire clubs.
Since we lost the bowling green at Epperstone Manor in September 2003, after 50 years, we have played our home games on Nottingham City Council's greens , firstly, at The Forest Recreation Ground, Nottingham and we now play at Valley Road, Sherwood
The Club, which still maintains the name Nottinghamshire Constabulary Bowls Club, plays in FOUR different leagues in Nottinghamshire, embracing the two codes of flat green bowls, EBA (English Bowling Association) and EBF (English Bowling Federation). We also partake in team cup competitions and individual members are encouraged to enter National and County competitions.
Serving and retired officers also have the opportunity to represent Police Sport (UK) in various regional, national and international police bowls games.
2010 season gets underway on Saturday 1st May when we play Selston away in the EBF 3x3 league.
