I am the Secretary for the Angling Section Simon Peck is the Chairman however I do all of the organising. We are a very social club who fish and have a laugh. There is also the competitive side but that is also light hearted. Our fixtures are listed below. Some of them are restricted as to how many anglers we can entertain and I do run a book so that people can book places on certain dates. Most of the fishing is now in commercial fisheries which are very safe for anglers and their vehicles which also means less walking with the gear. Many commercials now have their own shops and cafes.

Tuesday 26th August.

Lake side Ranskill

A fantastic venue this with lots of bites and plenty of fish including skimmers that think they are porpoises and leap out of the water.

1st Nat Attenborough 40lb 6oz he also won the golden peg award.
2nd Pete Hind 37lb dead
3rd Ian Savage 32lb 6oz
4th Malc Dennis 30lb 6oz

Malc also won the biggest fish prize with a carp of 6lb 11oz.

Wednesday 2nd Sept Lakeview fishery Wymeswold. This was a really blustery day with heavy showers and marauding sheep, (but more of that later). There were bites aplenty to be missed, umberella wrestling to be had and fencing with those sheep.
It all started when Pete Hind left his kit at the side of the lake and the sheep took a shine to is beef and mustard sandwiches and his bananas completely demolishing same. However during the match incensed with the taste of beef and obviously looking for more, one particular sheep attempted to relieve every angler of his sandwiches, maggots, paste infact anything that it could get hold of even butting the anglers themselves and smashing £350 worth of Mick Roberts fishing pole by leaping up and down on it. (there are some say that Micks tackle is only worth £351 but don't listen to them). Anyway the results.

3rd Ray Edgar 12lb 14oz
4th Brian Peatfield 12lb 4oz

Pete also landed the biggest carp of 4lb 12oz.

Results for yesterdays (14/8/08) match at Sherwood lake Sherwood Forest farm park are as follows.

1. Brian Peatfield 15.4.0

2. Marcus Tierney 11.14.0

3. Nat Attenborough 10.12.0

4. Steve Draper 8.8.0

Nat Attenborouh also had the days biggest fish which was a bream of 4.0.0 although a few much bigger fish were lost by a variety of competitors.

Next day out is at The Lakeside Fishery Ranskill on Tiesday 26th August draw at 0900.

RESULTS OF MATCH HELD WEDNESDAY 11TH JULY AT JANSONS, ELTON, NOTTS

THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT WE HAD FISHED THIS VENUE AND THAT ONLY BECAUSE OUR BOOKED VENUE WAS STILL UNDER WATER. THE RESULTS WERE VERY GOOD.

1ST STEVE DRAPER 81 LB 1 OUNCE

2ND JOHN HALLSWORTH 77 LB 8 OUNCE

3RD CHRIS BROTHERHOOD 75 LB 10 OUNCE

BEARING IN MIND THAT THE LARGEST FISH CAUGHT WAS UNDER ONE POUND A LOT OF FISH WERE CAUGHT, THE AVERAGE WEIGHT PER ANGLER WAS ABOUT 45 LB.

JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THE RESULTS OF THE ERPAA PSUK ANGLING MATCH WHICH TOOK PLACE AT THE PORTLAND GRANGE COMPLEX NEAR SIBTHORPE NOTTS ON THURSDAY 5TH JULY.

TEAMS ENTERED FROM NOTTS DERBY LINCS AND LEICESTER AND DUE TO THE RECENT FLOODS WE WERE LUCKY TO GET A MATCH ON AT ALL.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN MATCH SUCH AS THIS AND IT GOT QUITE EMBARRASSING AT PRIZE GIVING TIME.
