Report
'The Force Tournament was held at Chilwell Olympia in January 08 but was poorly attended due to a mixture of injury and non-availability of the usual entrants.
Paula Wilson won the ladies singles, ladies doubles with Lisa Crouch and mixed doubles with Anthony O'Leary.
Ian Woodward won the men's singles and men's doubles with Anthony O'Leary.
Lisa Crouch won the veteran mixed doubles with Anthony O'Leary.
The Regional Tournament was hosted by Leicestershire in February.
Paula Wilson won the ladies singles, runner-up in the ladies doubles with Lisa Crouch and won the mixed doubles with Anthony O'Leary.
Ian Woodward was runner-up in the men's doubles with Anthony O'Leary.
Lisa Crouch and Anthony O'Leary were runners-up in the veteran mixed doubles.
Ian failed to qualify in the singles.
Paula and Lisa qualified for the National finals in the ladies doubles as the National holders from Derbys pre qualified.
The Nationals were hosted in April at Exeter by Devon and Cornwall.
Unfortunately Lisa Crouch sustained a back injury and was unable to attend; therefore Paula Wilson and Anthony O'Leary were left to represent Notts.
Paula performed wonders in the ladies singles and fought her way to the semi-finals where she just lost out to a Scottish player, losing in 3 games.
In the mixed doubles, Paula and Anthony beat their old adversaries from South Yorks in the quarter-finals. In the semi-final, they played the holders from the Met who they managed to beat in 2 games, much to everyone's surprise! In the final, they lost to a Scottish pairing 21-18, 21-17, the pair they had lost to on the previous 3 occasions when they had reached the mixed final.'
