Yet another great match this week.(16/08/06)

We fished along with our colleagues from Leicester and Lincs at the Lake View fishery, Melton Mowbray. It was a wet day to say the least but the storms didn't seem to upset the fish who fed with abandon yet again.

1. Chris Shaw (Leic) 62lb

2= Phil Kerry 53lb 12oz NOTTS

2= John Hallsworth 53lb 12oz NOTTS

Phil fished chopped worm and John fished sweet corn.

52lb was 4th and Steve DRAPER NOTTS was 5th overall.

Bill Brown won his section by default with 33lb.

The lowest weight by a Notts angler was once again in excess of 20lb.

This weeks match is without doubt the best match of the year, and probably one of the best fished by this club for a very long time. On Wednesday 9th August we fished at the Portland Fishery , Sibthorpe, Notts. although the weather was far from ideal with high winds everybody had a cracking days fishing.

1st Marcus Tierney with 87lb 4oz of barbel and carp.

2nd John Hallsworth with 70lb 8oz of carp

3rd Alf Brotherhood with 60lb of mainly large carp caught on the waggler.

4th Peter Hind with 57lb of carp caught on paste.

The least caught by any angler was over 26lb.

All methods and baits worked on the day with most people fishing at short distances, so a good day was had by all.

On Thursday 3rd August we fished at Wetlands near Retford this is a waterfowl and nature reserve and apart from good fishing there are lots of interesting birds to see and eat your bait when you aren't looking.

1. Peter DENNIS 102lb 4oz. Carp caught on sweet corn fished shallow on the waggler.

2. John HALLSWORTH 68lb 8oz Carp

3. Bob OLDFIELD 42lb 5oz Carp and bream.

There were plenty of big fish hooked and lost but the biggest landed was 11lb 2oz by Pete HIND.

This weeks match was fished at Holly Farm Leicester, it was part of a three way inter force between Notts, Lincs and Leicester.

The winner once again was Marcus Tierney with 66lb he caught mainly carp fished very shallow.

The second and third places were shared by Leic and Lincs.

Pete Hind won his section with over 38lb of fish.

Steve Draper was second section by default with 32lb and Chris Brotherhood weighed 31lb.

Very good weights were had by everybody involved.

The next match against these forces may be moved from Wed 16th August to Thursday 17th at Lake View near Melton.

19th July, Peacock Fisheries.

1. Marcus Tierney 38lb, lots of roach and Ide

2. Brian Peatfield 28lb 12 oz, some larger carp

3. John Hallsworth 24lb 4oz

Good weights again the last angler weighed over 15lb.

On our latest match dated 12th July we fished on Langdale Lake at The Sherwood Forest Farm Park complex. A very good match was enjoyed by all yet again.

Ist Steve DRAPER - 42lb 4oz , chub and ide to 2lb on maggot fished 12" deep.

2nd Nat Attenborough - 21lb 8oz

3rd John Hallsworth - 19lb 8oz.

Everybody caught double figures and the biggest fish of the match was 3lb 12oz. Many carp were hooked and lost, but as they sat THATS FISHING.

On Thursday 6th July a team of 6 and replacement travelled to Moon and Moat fisheries Tattershall, Lincs to compete in the regional PAA match.

6 teams of 6 plus two individuals competed and the results are as follows.

Team event

1, Notts with 14 points

Marcus Tierney 1point weighed 64lb

Nat Attenborough 1 point weighed 23lb 10

Steve Draper 2 points weighed 23lb 5

Pete Hind 2 points weighed 12lb 6

Mick Roberts 3 points weighed 5lb 12

Ian Savage 5 points weighed 4lb

Andy Jackson fished as an individual and scored 4 points weighing over 13lb.

On the individual front

1st Marcus Tierney 64lb - NOTTS

2nd Dave Carey 30lb - Leic

3rd Nat Attenborough 23lb 10oz - NOTTS

4th Bill Rutherford 23lb 6oz - Leic

5th Steve Draper 23lb 5oz - NOTTS

As you can see Notts did very well in the individual stakes taking 3 out of the top five. Only ounces separated 3rd to 5th.

Another good match and Marcus Tierneys remarkable run of good weights continues.

Last weeks match was held at Huthwaite in a beautiful Old Lake 13 fished with lots of fish being caught.

1. Marcus Tierney 38lb 8oz - mixture of Carp Skimmers and roach caught on pellet

2. Steve Draper 37lb 8oz - Carp Skimmers and roach on pellet

3. John Hallsworth 23lb, mainly roach and skimmers

1. Fished at Maunside Sherwood Forest Farm Park.
The conditions were not ideal but a decent match was had.

3rd Brian Peatfield 23lb
Bigest fish 3.6.0 carp by John Hallsworth

Second match fished at Portland Grange Flintham
Still a bit windy which affected catches but once again good weights.

2nd Steve Draper with 24lb dead
3rd Bill Brown 16lb 4oz. Bill is in his 70's and still fishes every match
and does very well.
Biggest fish Malc Dennis 7lb 12oz carp.
